Office of the Municipal Engineer
 

The Municipal Engineer`s Office takes charge of all local engineering works in the Municipality which include construction, repair and maintenance of public infrastructure. This office also takes charge of the implementation of Presidential Decree 1096, or the National Building Code, in the issuance of building permits as well as the inspection of all buildings except residential buildings. It is responsible in the enforcement of the provision of the National Building Code as well as its implementing rules and regulations.

ABOUT THE SERVICES: The Municipal Engineering Office maintains drainage systems and un dertakes repair of damaged roads, wharfs and bridges within Municipal jurisdiction. The infrastructure maintenance and repair services include:

    Cleaning, Re-ditching, Declogging of Drainage lines
    Repair of Drainage lines and Manholes
    Repair & Maintenance of Bridges

About the service

  • Any resident or Barangay Official of the Municipality of Cardona request the Municipal Mayor’s Office for the maintenance and repair of artesian well. All other requests will be acted upon on a first come first served basis and according to priority, as to the degree of needs and availability of materials.

About the service

  • Any resident or Barangay Official of Municipality of Cardona may request the Municipal City Mayor`s Office or report to the Municipal Engineer’s Office for any of the services they may wish to avail. This service includes survey, inspec tion, investigation, troubleshooting, changing of busted bulbs & installation of new streetlights, repair of water pumps and motor, repainting, and the like    The Municipal Engineer’s Office will respond immediately to emer gency request where there is danger to life or damage to prop erty. All other requests will be acted upon on a first come first served basis and according to priority, as to the degree of needs and availability of materials.

About the service

  • A building permit is required prior to the construction, erection, alterna tion, repair, conversion, use, occupancy, moving or demolition of any building or structure by private persons, firms or corporation including agency or in strumentalities of the government (P.D. 1096 or the National Building Code)      The permit becomes null and void if work is not commenced within 1 year from the date of issuance or if the building work is suspended or abandoned at anytime after it has been commenced for period of 120 days.

  • Any persons who intend to construct, erect, alter, repair, convert, move or demolish any building may apply for a building permit.

To facilitate processing, please take note of the following before submitting the application to the Office of the Municipal Engineer:

 

  • Requirements of the National Building Code
  • Requirements of the Referral Code/Architectural Code, Philippine Electrical Code (PEC),Revised Plumbing Code, National Structural Code (NSCP) Philippine Me chanical Engineering Code (PMEC).
  • Compliance with BP 344 should be indicated in detail on plans for commercial, institutional and public buildings.
  • Provision of Parking area for new buildings (institutional and commercial).
  • If set backs and side yard requirement are not met, firewall (strictly with no opening) must be provided which shall not extend beyond 1 meter from roof level.
  • A special power of attorney shall be provided if owner is not the signatory in all applications.
  • Forms and letter, plans specification, bill of materials and cost estimates and other pertinent documents must be signed and sealed by the designer complete with latest PTR and PRC ID. Note: All these documents must be signed by the owner.

About the service

  • This document is required before putting up new or additional, or altering electrical installations involving at least 20 outlets or a capac ity of 4 Kw. For new buildings, this forms part of the requirements for a Building Permit application.

  • Issurance of Occupancy Permit

About the service

  • An Occupancy Permit is required before any building or structure is used or occupied. It is secured after the completion of the structure.     It is also required if there is any change in the existing use or occu pancy classification of a building structure or any portion thereof.

  • Any individual who had been issued a building permit may apply for occupancy permit after the building construction has been completed.

  • Transfer Certificate of Title (TCT) showing that the applicant is the owner of the building to be demolished.

About the service

  • All buildings except residential buildings are subject to annual in spection after 1 year of occupancy to determine their architectural presentation, structural stability, electrical safety, mechanical safety, sanitary requirements and compliance to BP 344/RA 7277.      The issuance of Annual Safety Inspection certificate is required before a building is granted an occupancy for renewal of business permit.

About the service

  • All enterprises constructing a new building are required to secure a Locational Clearance upon application of building permit before the start of construction to ensure that the project is allowed in the cho sen location as per Municipal Land Use Plan of the Zoning Ordinance of the Municipality
